"I believe that biology students who smoke are morons"
Wooohh~ It's been awhile now. Haven't been updating 'coz 2 weeks ago I hurt my back doing one too many sit-ups. Probably exerted a muscle. It was horrible. The pain was intense, I thought I was gonna die. And the worst-est thing was... there's no mommy to manja! Tip to all international students: Take great care of your health! It sucks to be ill and all alone without mom's care! I had to keep the robot's upright posture to void the pain. If ever I try to lay back on the seat's backrest, the pain would whip right up. I couldn't even crouch down to tie my shoelaces! Getting to bed was just as bad. I bought rubbing oil, but how on earth was I supposed to rub my own back?! See..? Again, no mom's tender loving care! Thankfully, the worst is behind me now. I got better last week, and I've started doing light exercises again, more carefully this time! (Gotta work those abs!) The blanket of flab at where the packs are supposed to be at just annoys me. Must ... not ... give ... up ... !!! Blast the flabs!!!~ Darn it.
Apart from that .. I'm very fine, thank you! 4 weeks in and I'm starting to get a little swamped. Lucky for me, this coming week's a study break for us slow pokes to catch up. Ehe~ But hey, you know what? Everyone wants me to join their assignment group! Mwahhahaha.. I'm now 'nerdily'-popular! Ah well, better than nothing. Haha. Anyway, the kiasu side of me decided to build a team with the other kiasus. "Vin, join our group ok! Singapore and Malaysia must work together!" Nyahahhaha.. So I guess that's settled.
Weather here's been so-so. Been raining lately, pushing down the temperature. However, there was this day which was really nice and warm. I just wore a pair of sports shorts and my classic collarless plain white tee. Ahh~ The Perfect Bliss.. Of course, that's just like one of the odd days. Sometimes it's sunny but cold, and sometimes it's gloomy and wet. Rain is bad. Especially when I have to walk to or from campus. I got drenched once; was already halfway home when it started pouring. Ee.. Blek blek~ And umbrellas are not very helpful 'coz it's so windy here. Daniel lent his to me one morning and it turned inside out. *shy* ~
Food, one of the many things I've been missing. I'm running out of cooking ideas. I'm still so sick of instant pasta from last semester that I haven't had any yet this sem. Ooh ooh.. I made a new experiment though. Beef Nachos! It's a little too mah-farn to make though. Too time consuming, and a great way to waste electricity; from little but necessary use of the oven to melt the cheese, unless I have a blowtorch. Pre-heating the oven takes like 10 mins, melting the cheese takes only 20-30 seconds. Any longer and the beef juices and cheese oil will ooze onto the corn chips and make them soft and soggy. Not good. Would be fine if I were to make multiple batches for a party, but if it's just for 1 or 2 batches, I think to preheat the oven to use it for less than a minute is not worth it. Energy conservation!! Go GREEN!
Ohh.. And just last week Tuesday, I had my first vet dissection lab. Pretty cool, except for the smell. We had organ parts of sheep, pig and cattle: stomach, intestine, pancreas, liver, spleen, kidney, bladder, heart, lung, trachea, and skin (with fur! ooh, furry)! The odour was obnoxious! And hey, everything of the cows' were big! Haha. Some of the parts were gross coz they didn't clean the insides (this is done deliberately so that we get to see what's inside). There were green mashed up clumpy stuff in the stomach, greenish yellow thick soupy stuff in the intestines, and there was this nice and slippery thick mucus layer in the bladder. Hahah. Was fun, and we all had a chance to cut open the organs 'coz they replaced the used ones with nice fresh ones when we switch tables. Sweeeet! My next dissection is of a cow's limb! Oooh.. Definitely look forward to that one. Ehe..~
I bought health supplements from the chemist the other day. Simple multivitamins. But damn.. The capsules are so big, it feels like I'm swallowing AAA batteries. And I have to like position the capsule so that it goes lengthwise (vertically) down my throat. It almost got stuck when it went down sideways once. Geezers! Bigger is not always better.. On a different note, my nasal congestion has disappeared! Yay! Goodbye to those nights of mouth-breathing! =)
Malaysia celebrated its 50th Anniversary of independence on Friday. Sadly, I didn't. It was just any other day for me. I don't even have any Malaysian friends here to talk about it. Imagine how excited I was to tell my classmates "Today's Malaysia's 50th year of independence!" .. "Is it? Oh." ... Honestly, that's all I got: Oh. Oh. OH! How disappointing. LOL! Oh well. I wasn't much of a patriot anyway. I just thought that 50 was a big number and should be taken notice of. In my opinion, Malaysia can do a lot better than how it is doing now.. So much dreams, so much potential, so much hope, so much opportunities, so much future, .. all not taken advantage of. Such a pity. We'll see what happens in the next 50 years, if I get to live that long. ~
Anyway, I gotta go now. Gonna web-cammie with my darling Kate Lynn tomorrow! Hehe. Goodnight all, and take care. ~
