76. ROTTNEST ISLAND
Leavers week! Finally visited Rottnest Island today! Woke up at a very early 5am to get ready and caught the bus to Fremantle as we were planning to catch the first ferry from Freo to Rotto at 7:30am. Rottnest Island is a small island located off the coast of Western Australia, about 20k's from Freo.
There were 8 of us, 5 guys and 3 girls, and we had been planning this trip even before the exams started! Wooh! Rotto is an extremely pristine island; no private land or vehicles and its electrical power is generated from its own hybrid diesel-windmill. Pretty impressive. We all went there with particularly high expectations on its beaches, but it surprised us. The beaches were beyond what we imagined. It was top notch!
Flawless; every single part of it was unpolluted. And we could actually see the Perth CBD from where we were, meaning we weren't very far from the mainland. It was unbelievable! It's amazing how WA reserve and preserve their tourist and local attractions. If you're looking for starred accommodations, you have come to the wrong island. I guess it's also owed to the mentality of its visitors and Australians in general. Noone is moronic enough to litter and destroy this wonderful haven.
When we arrived there, the famed Rotto Basin was empty! Not a single soul in sight (It was friggin' 8am!). Mimi started telling us how it's like those horror movies where a group of students go to a deserted beach on an island holiday, and 'things' start killing them off. She eventually stopped after she started to freak herself out. Haha. Silly. Of course, by noon people started to come.
xD
However, I can't say that today's weather was all that fantastic for a beach outing. I was pissed that it has been so warm for the past few days, but today's high was 23-ish degrees Celcius. The water was so cold my balls shrank! (Joke joke, please laugh!)
Anyway, I'm making it an early night today as I'm very tired and sleepy. Will be back on Saturday night! To the place I call home; SS2, PJ.
